Laser Wart Removal

Some foot warts go away on their own, but some plantar warts on the feet get trapped in between a callus and become resistant to conservative treatments. This often leaves our patients wondering how to remove warts that are causing foot pain to the point where it is interfering with activity. Laser wart removal is an option for warts that do not respond to other types of treatment first. Laser therapy uses intense light to burn away the tissue of the wart, causing it to eventually fall off.

The laser wart removal is done in our offices with a local anesthetic. Recovery time depends on the location and size of the plantar wart. You should discuss the risk factors with your doctor so that you will know what to look out for during recovery. If you are concerned that you might have this condition, call us at 561-793-6170 today to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced podiatrists in Royal Palm Beach and surrounding areas or click here to request an appointment.

What is Laser Wart Removal?

Plantar warts are the type of foot warts that we are familiar with in our offices. Laser therapy is a reliable treatment option for removing plantar warts, but should not be the first treatment option. If other plantar wart treatments are not successful, then it should be considered. Laser wart removal uses intense light to burn the tissue of the wart. The burnt tissue dies and falls off a few days after the treatment and the skin then heals naturally. Laser removal is done in our offices as an outpatient procedure with a local anesthetic. Although laser wart removal can be painful, our doctors work with you to manage the pain during and after the treatment. The benefits of this type of removal are that it has a very high success rate and does not leave a scar.

How does Laser Wart Removal work?

The intense light of the laser burns the tissue of the wart. This is performed in our office with a local anesthetic to numb the wart and the surround skin to minimize any pain that would be felt during the procedure. Several days to a week after the laser treatment is done, the burnt tissue dies and falls off. Then the skin can heal naturally.

What Conditions are Treated?

Laser wart removal is done to remove plantar warts that have not responded to other conventional treatments. A plantar wart is a noncancerous skin growth caused by the Human Papilomavirus (HPV). Plantar warts grow on the bottom of your feet. Most plantar warts do not require treatment; however, some warts are painful and can stop you from normal activities. If left untreated, painful foot warts can cause other foot problems if you are forced to walk differently in an attempt to avoid pain.
